Family Dentist in Belville, NC
A cleaning removes what brushing cannot reach and gives us a look at everything before it becomes expensive. It is the cheapest appointment in dentistry and the one that prevents the rest.
What to expect
Our new patient exam is more thorough than a standard recall. It includes an oral cancer screening, a periodontal charting, a tooth-by-tooth assessment, a TMJ and bite evaluation, and an aesthetic consultation if you want one.
If there is gum disease present, a standard cleaning is the wrong treatment. We will explain the difference between a cleaning and periodontal therapy rather than quietly doing one and billing the other.
Why Belville patients come to us
Belville sits on the Brunswick River directly across from downtown Wilmington, which makes it one of the closest towns to our office outside New Hanover County.
Back-to-back family scheduling is the single thing that keeps a household on a six-month interval. We block consecutive chairs so one trip covers everyone.
At fifteen minutes it is the closest town to us outside New Hanover County, and we can see a whole family in one morning.
Belville is the young exception in Brunswick County, with a median age under forty and almost no vacant housing.
Brunswick Riverwalk Park sits directly across the water from downtown Wilmington, which tells you how short the trip is.
We see patients from across Belville and the surrounding area, including Brunswick Riverwalk Park, Belville Elementary, the Ocean Highway corridor and the 28451 ZIP code.
Brunswick County is the fastest-growing county in North Carolina and the sixth fastest in the country, up about a quarter since 2020, and 35 percent of residents are 65 or older. That combination, rapid in-migration and an older population, is why so much of our Brunswick caseload is restorative.
Book the family together. Consecutive chairs means one morning rather than three separate afternoons, and it is the single thing that keeps households on schedule.

This is for you if
- It has been six months, or six years, since your last visit
- Bleeding when you brush or floss
- Persistent bad breath
- Tartar you can see or feel behind the lower front teeth
- A new move to the area and no dentist yet
Afterwards
Gums may be tender for a day if there was a lot of buildup. Brush twice, floss once, and come back on the interval we recommend rather than the one your calendar prefers. Some patients need three or four month intervals, and that is a clinical call.
Follow-up checks are quick, and we will put them alongside another family member's appointment where we can.
Questions we get asked
It has been years. Will you lecture me?
No. We see it constantly and it is not interesting to us. We will look at where you are and build a plan forward.
Does a cleaning hurt?
Not usually. If there is significant buildup or inflamed tissue it can be tender, and we can numb the area.
