See below for our 5 Phase Comprehensive Examination designed with this objective in mind. We are excited to have you join us
Oral Cancer Screening
If you are a tobacco or smokeless tobacco user, you stand an increased chance of developing oral cancer. More than 8,000 deaths were attributed to oral cancer in the past year. We are committed to the prevention of oral cancer through the early identification of pre-cancerous conditions, and provide oral cancer screenings at each preventive care appointment.
Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in the United States. Your doctor will examine your gum tissues to ensure that gum disease is detected in its early stages. Because bone loss is a significant consideration in determining the outcome of cosmetic treatment, we take the health of your gum and bone tissues very seriously.
At Atlantic Dental Group, we establish a baseline for where you are at your first visit, noting any cracks, cavities, crookedness or other tooth-by-tooth issues. Establishing a baseline allows us to monitor any changes in your oral health and your dental hygiene
While our overall goal is to maintain and improve your oral health, oftentimes, patients wish to improve the cosmetic appearance of their smile. An aesthetic consultation or “smile assessment” allows us to review services that may provide you more confidence in your smile.
The forces of your bite can sometimes affect the positioning of your jaw and teeth. Through minor polishing of the enamel surfaces or smoothing fillings of the teeth, our doctors can help redistribute and redirect the biting forces. Adjustments to chewing surfaces can often eliminate headaches that occur as a result of irregular biting patterns.

At Atlantic Dental Group we take great pride in our diagnostic and preventative services. Looking for early signs of cavities, gum disease, and chewing problems is vital to maintaining your oral health. Prevention in dentistry leads to improved long-term oral health and reduced dental costs. It encourages a bright smile, fresh breath, and an overall good feeling of personal security. See how some of the services below can help you keep your teeth in top condition!
Sealants protect the chewing surfaces of the back teeth and should be applied as a child’s permanent teeth erupt. Though typically placed on children’s teeth, adult molars can also be sealed, provided a tooth does not show evidence of decay. The sealants that we have placed have been highly successful in preventing decay.
Fluoride applications help to strengthen the enamel on your child’s teeth, making it more difficult for cavities to begin. Children should be receiving fluoride treatments every six months.
Once your mouth is restored to health, it is important that you make a commitment to maintain your dental health. To achieve this, it is important that you return on a regular basis for a routine examination, scaling and root planing. The doctors of Atlantic Dental Group and your hygienist will inform you of the recare interval that best fits your needs.
Fluoride is also helpful to adults to reduce the pain and discomfort caused by exposed root surfaces (receding gums). Regular fluoride application helps eliminate root sensitivity. Our patients have found it helpful to have a series of fluoride treatments to reduce their sensitivity, followed by possible at-home applications.
Nightguards are used as a treatment option to prevent damage to the chewing surfaces of the teeth associated with grinding and clenching. It is a conservative treatment that is very successful and highly recommended for patients with TMJ dysfunction. By creating an acrylic pattern of your teeth, our doctors can help you protect your teeth from unnecessary wear.
This procedure can be used at home or in our office to control the bacteria that causes periodontal disease. The gum tissue is bathed and flushed with an antibiotic preparation to promote healing of the gum tissue. Our hygienist can tell you how.
Tooth-whitening procedures offer patients with stained, discolored or dull teeth an opportunity to have a whiter, brighter smile. Whitening significantly reduces external surface stains caused by food and beverages. We provide both in-office and at-home whitening systems. Our take-home whitening system is a comfortable and affordable option with in-office appointments to monitor progress. See the video to see how the process works and ask your doctor if take home whitening or in office whitening is the right choice for you.
At Atlantic Dental Group, our goal is to give you a healthy, beautiful smile that you will love to show off. That’s why we offer Lifetime Whitening Program as long as you continue to come to us for regular dental care. It allows our loyal patients a way to receive prescription strength teeth whitening for a fraction of the cost. New and existing patients are eligible for this program in return for staying current at each hygiene maintenance visit and making your oral health a priority!
Made of tooth-colored material, composite fillings restore the teeth’s natural beauty. Composite fillings can be matched very closely to your natural tooth color and are virtually indistinguishable from non-restored teeth. Composite fillings are excellent options for front teeth, but may be suggested for selected sites on molars as well. The composites we use have proven to be extremely durable and stain resistant.
Usually customized from porcelain, veneers are thin, semi-translucent facings bonded to the fronts of teeth. Veneers are durable, stain-resistant, and natural looking. They conceal broken, chipped, discolored, crooked, and misshapen teeth, and provide you with the winning smile you have always wanted.
A crown is a restoration that covers a tooth in order to strengthen it as well as restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown may be placed to support a large filling when there is little remaining tooth structure, attach a bridge, protect weak teeth from fracturing, or restore fractured teeth. A tooth that has been treated with root canal therapy will require a crown following treatment to provide strength and support to the tooth. We only use materials for crowns that will provide the longest lasting benefits to our patients.
Single Tooth or Multiple Tooth Implants
Dental implants replace teeth that have been missing since birth or have been lost due to gum disease, infection, trauma, or decay. Implants are surgically attached to the jawbone and become a permanent part of your mouth. With implants, patients no longer experience the slipping, moving, and irritation of dentures. Dental implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth because they are made of a metal that is highly compatible with the jaw bone. As a result, the implant (a small post that protrudes from the gum) is able to fuse easily with the underlying bone.
Once the dental implant is integrated and healed, your Atlantic Dental Group doctor will complete the implant procedure by attaching natural and functional tooth structures to the implant components, providing you once again with the comfort and confidence that accompany a beautiful smile.
Partial dentures are indicated if some serviceable teeth are present for support in conjunction with the gums and jawbone. A partial denture, although removable, provides improved form and function to replace missing teeth.
Full dentures are used if there are not any teeth left for support. The full denture covers each jaw separately. It must be known that dentures are not an ideal replacement option for your teeth, but they are a replacement option for having no teeth. See below for better and healthier options!

TMJ Disorder, also known as TMD, is a condition that afflicts many people on a daily basis. Some TMD conditions are more severe than others. Frequent indications of TMD include but are not limited to frequent headaches, painful clicking and popping of the jaw joints, limited range of opening, “locked” open or closed sensations, and pain in the chewing muscles around the head and neck. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, be sure to relay this information to your doctor and team. Our doctors will assess any symptoms and recommend appropriate therapies that can improve TMD symptoms.
While our goal at Atlantic Dental Group is to recognize problems early on to prevent pain or larger problems from occurring, we understand that sometimes life happens and unavoidable emergencies do occur. We make time in our schedule every day to make sure we address these emergencies in order to improve your comfort and health.
Please don’t hesitate to call if you are experiencing a dental related emergency. We are more than happy to welcome all new patients and look forward to you being a part of the Atlantic Dental family.
